Preparing Your Project
Tips for preparing to add your project.

1. What Are You Adding?

You can add your project in any form you choose:

1. Source Code Project - Your project contains source code, original media files, and any other files necessary to build your project. You will likely choose this option if you're writing a library, demo, or you just want to completely share your creation with the community.

2. Binary Only Project - Your project contains all the necessary files required to run your project. This option will be chosen if you are adding a Flash game, releasing your work in a very early, unfinished state, or you hope to turn your project into something for sale at some point in the future.

3. Source Code + Binary Project - Your project contains all the source code, media files, and precompiled binary and content files. This option is very convenient if you want people to be able to easily run your project.

4. Promotion Only - You aren't uploading a project file. You will likely use this option if you already have a web site and you wish to promote your work, in which case you'll still want to upload a link to your site as well as screenshots of your project in action.

2. Prepare Your Work

It's important to do for the following:

1. Run your project on your own computer to make sure it works.

2. Remove all intermediate and temporary directories and files. This will reduce the size of your project, making it faster for you to upload, and faster for others to download.

3. Include a ReadMe file containing a description of your project, how to use it, the license you grant to people who download your project, and whatever else you think is relevant.

3. Create The Project File

Create the .zip, .rar, or .tgz file containing your project. Note the following:

1. As a convenience to people who download your project, you should name your project's file after the name of your project. For example, if your project is named "My Game", you should name your zip file "MyGame.zip" or "My-Game.zip".

2. If you wish, you can name your file in such a way that includes the version number. For example, "MyGame-1.0.0.zip".

4. Add it!

If you've already created a GameProjects.com account, you're ready to add your project. If not, create an account now.
